About Hajj

Hajj

Hajj is the journey to Mecca to perform specific acts determined by Islam in a specific place and time. Islam made Hajj an obligation for every Muslim man and woman. Hajj requires that a person be financially and physically capable, so that the person is able to endure the hardships of travel and perform the rituals, i.e. the person must be healthy, and that there is a mahram with the woman, i.e. that she does not travel alone. Likewise, the condition of security and safety must be met on the pilgrim’s path, and the financial ability must be available; because Hajj requires the costs of travel and accommodation. The most prominent rituals of Hajj are Ihram, circumambulating the Kaaba, walking between Safa and Marwa, standing at Arafat, spending the night in Muzdalifah, throwing the pebbles and then shaving, slaughtering the sacrificial animal, circumambulating the Kaaba, then throwing the three pebbles, then the farewell circumambulation.
